Do you support imperialism for your country? Explain.

I support imperialism for my country. It increases our industrial growth. It helps improve our colony as an whole. Not only will it benefit us but it will benefit the country that we are imperializing. Health care will improve and we will have a better school education. The economy probably will strengthen and there will be more job opportunities. Culture facilities will spread, so there will be foreign things other than American things. Nationalism can spread. Basically the country will become rich and wealthy. I would not want my country to over do another country because it cause war. I think imperialism should be about helping expand a country.

Compare the conditions workers in China face currently with those of workers in America at the turn of the century.

Immagrants had a hard time living up to their dreams and meeting their expectations in America. Asian immagrants had trouble finding a job due to understanding an unfamiliar language and culture. On top of that because they did not have a job, they could not find a home. It was hard to adjust to life in a large industrial city. Around that time working conditions was unsafe but most of them took it even if it was little pay. They needed to earn enough money for them and their families to survive. Imagrants were willing to work long hours with low wages. Chinese immagrants worked as laborers and suffered from racial discrimination. They were unskilled workers.

Describe/comment on a Jacob Riis photo. "In a Seven- Cent Lodging- House"

This is one of Jacob Riis photo that describes how the immagrants living condition were. They did not sleep comfortable because this exactly what their bunks looked like. They had to sleep on top of each other and it was no space. Can you imagine being in a cramped up room? No privacy or space. Its not like they had a bed, they had to sleep on a sheet, if I'm not mistaking. The room is flithy so they did not experienced a clean surrounding. They did not make a good amount of money so they had to get what they could afford. The homes could of been a little better to the point they could of lived comfortably.

Can someone rise from "rags to riches

It is possible for someone to rise from "rags to riches". People do not realize that everyone can be talented in something whether it is singing, dancing, drawing, painting or just being a prodigy at a sport or a instrument. For example a homeless person can just be singing to nicely out in the streets and it is possible that a famous or important person can see that person talent. Most likely that person will give the homeless person money and a offer on a show. Most of these rich people today had a rough life before making it to where they are at now. Who wants to be a rag forever, some of them will know that it is time for them to get there lives together. Everyone deserves a chance to better themselves. Its difficult to become rich from a rag but its never impossible. Humans are skilled at something that can help us be something in life.

What does it mean to be American?

I think that American has multitude of meanings to it. I think that it means that you are free and independent because back then so much things was going on for example segregation and slaverly but today it is history. In America we live a free world and have the rights to do things that people couldn't do back then. Womans weren't allow to vote back then but today thats something that is available towards everyone. I also think it means to be loyal , fair and to have justice. Today we are able to play sports, work and have a good education to be successful in life. Along time ago education really wasn't so great as it is today or it wasn't an option for some. Today we are allow to choose where we want to work and how long we want to work. Being an American means that you have a choice to make for your own life. We have freedom of speech and we can study any religion we want. American is the meaning of walking on an equal path.

Inspiration Blog

This may seem a little weird but this movie I seen, really inspired me.The movie was called 127 Hours and it was based on a true story. A mountain climber named Aron Raltson arms became trapped under an 800 pound boulder. All I could think was that he wasn't going to make it because he was very dehydrated and was on the boarder line of death which he actually carved the date of his death. What inspired me the most was that after the 5th day, this man did something really incredible to free himself. Aron Raltson actually amputated his right forearm by using a dull blade from the tools he had to free himself. Mind you he was close to dying and was in alot of pain but instead he had a solution that I think no one would ever thought of. Whats so shocking is that I never thought that an idea like this would be in someones mind.Thats the thing that inspired me the most because he isn't a doctor or any type of medical professional but he was brave enough to remove his arm and survived the trauma. Its just an unbelieve story and I'll recommend this movie to anyone although the amputation part maybe very disturbing or hard to handle but this guy is awasome! Also what caught my attention, was that he reflected back alot on his life by using a video  camera while being trapped. Today Raltson is living a normal life and still remains an adventurer after the tragic incident.
